FREQUENTLY ANSWERED QUESTIONS ABOUT THE PKBGT
How old must my daughter be to play on the Tour?
Girls 12 to 18 who have yet to enroll in college are eligible to participate in either Tour Division.
For 11 year olds, any girl turning 12 during the calendar year is eligible to play the entire tour schedule for that season.
Which division should I play in?
The Bell Division is an elite, collegiate preparatory division. Many of the girls on this level have a high interest in competing in national competitions and are looking for exposure that will help in scholarship opportunities for college golf. Play in the Bell Division is split between the Bell Series and the Prep Series. Players who are Bell eliglible may play in either of these Series. Players may gain entry to the Bell Division thru wins & scores in the Futures Division or through results events outside the PKBGT. Players wishing to play in the Bell Division will be required to submit a tournament resume to prove the continued ability to score 80 or better from Red tees in tournament play. Division eligiblity and status is determined by the tour committee.
The Bell Series provides the most elite tournaments on the PKBGT schedule. This exclusive 15 event Series runs November to May each year and features top players and venues on the PKBGT. The Prep Series is a competitive division for girls preparing for collegiate golf who have a proven tournament history. For the Prep Series, players must be Bell Division eligible or a Futures Division player in the Graduation Classes 2016 - 2019 with a scoring differential under 18.0 to be eligible to play in the Prep Series. Any player who plays in a Prep Series event is eligible for the remainder Prep Series events for that season. If a Futures player becomes Prep Series eligible, they may choose which division to compete in from event to event and are not required to only play one division or the other.
The Futures Division is designed for those girls looking to compete at high school yardages. Players range from high school players gaining tournament experience to top younger teens bettering their game. Players will play the Red tees (~5,200 yards) in competition. Championships and 2-day Classic events for the Futures division are played under USGA rules and are ranked events. The Futures One-Day Open Series are ideal developmental events for players newer to tournamnt golf. These events feature modified rules which make them ideal for players just starting tournament golf.
Do I have to join the Tour to play an event?
Yes. The member fee is $60 and it is good for the PKBGT tour season which runs November - September. To play any PKBGT Championships and multi-day Classic events, you must join the Tour to participate.
Players wishing to try one event before joining may play a One-Day Open Series event. Players who choose this option will not receive points for the event unless they join the Tour.
Do these events count towards State or National rankings and/or Junior Golf Scoreboard?
Yes, multi-day events are submitted to the Junior Golf Scoreboard in the Bell, Prep & Futures Series. The national Golfweek/Sagarin Girls Ratings will also rank select multi-day events for the Bell & Prep Series. AJGA Performance Based Entry Stars are addressed in the next question. All events are submitted for North Carolina TYGA & South Carolina Junior State Ranking points. The multiplier for each event is determined by the State organization. For all events during the PKBGT season (November to September), results will count towards the PKBGT Order of Merit and determine the invitations for future events.
