FREQUENTLY ANSWERED QUESTIONS
FROM PLAYERS NEW TO TOURNAMENT GOLF ABOUT THE PKBGT

How old must my daughter be to play on the Tour?

Girls 12 to 18 who have yet to enroll in college are eligible to participate in either Tour Division.
For 11 year olds, any girl turning 12 during the calendar year is eligible to play the entire tour schedule for that season.

I have only played on my school team, am I ready to play a PKB tournament?

The tour is structured into three divisions based on your tournament experience. The Futures Division is designed for those girls looking to participate on their school teams and range from high school players gaining tournament experience to top younger teens bettering their game. Players will play the Red tees (~5,200 yards) in the events.

Players who have minimal or no tournament experience should start with the 1-day Open Series events. The Open Series features modified rules, including double par and modified lost ball which make them ideal for players just starting tournament golf to get their feet wet. PKBGT Classic events will be for those getting comfortable with the atmosphere and USGA rules to begin to test their game and develop. PKBGT Championships in the Futures Division are to determine the top competitors playing at this yardage at that time.

I'm not sure if this is right for me, do I have to join the Tour to play an event?

Yes &/or No. The yearly membership fee is $60 and it is good for the entire tour season (November - September). To play any PKBGT Championship or multi-day Classic event, you must join the Tour to participate. Players wishing to try one event before joining may play a One-day Open Series event. Players who choose this option will not receive points towards PKBGT Order of Merit Standings unless they join the Tour.

I want to play my first event, how do I register?

First, you will need to create an account with PKBGT on our online registration system. After you have done this, you can go to our Tour Schedule page to see our list of upcoming events that you can register for. Click the register button on the right for any event and it will walk you through the steps to enter and pay online for the event.

I signed up for my first event, what do I do now?

Once you have registered for the event, you will be able to receive updates for that particular event by returning to the tournament page from which you registered. We will update these pages with pertinent information for this event. Make sure to check out the EVENT INFORMATION TAB on the page which will tell you the tee time block for the event, practice round, hotel and additional information about the event.

Your specific tee time will be posted at least two days prior to the event and will tell you what time you will start on the first day of the tournament. You should plan to arrive at the golf course 1 hour prior to this time to check-in, warm-up and prepare to play. A player who is late for a tee time will be penalized and possibly disqualified from the tournament.

How do I withdraw from a tournament?

Official withdrawals will be refundable up until the closing date of each event. Players must call 336-347-4537 in advance of a tournament to withdraw. Players withdrawing before the withdrawal date are subject to a $25 administrative fee. All other withdrawals are not entitled for any refund. During competition, a player must withdraw with the Tournament Director and are not entitled to a refund.

Can I get assistance with preparing for college?

Yes, the tour will be happy to assist you in your collegiate search. The tour operates Recruit PKB, an avenue for players and parents to learn more about the college recruiting process and for college coaches to learn more about PKBGT players. RecruitPKB College Consultant Brandi Jackson is available for questions and offers free seminars at multiple PKBGT events, as well as being available for more in depth consultation by purchasing a RecruitPKB package.
