Preview: Futures Open Championship at Sapona Ridge

On Saturday-Sunday, May 23-24, the 2015 Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour plays the PKBGT FUTURES OPEN CHAMPIONSHIPS at Sapona Ridge Country Club. Sapona Ridge, host to many Carolinas junior and amateur events, is a demanding course for this two-day tournament. The event features a field 59 players from the PKB Girls’ Golf Tour, the nation’s largest “girls’ only” junior tour with over 425 members in 2014 and over 350 girls playing in or committed to collegiate golf. The event is the third championship tournament of the 2015 season.

The Futures Series field features 48 golfers, highlighted by 13 of the top-15 players on the 2015 PKBGT Futures Series Order of Merit List, including: Carley Rudolf (Virginia Beach, VA 2019) in 1st position, Amanda Sambach (Davidson, NC 2021) and Muskan Uppal (Cornelius, NC 2019) tied for 2nd position, Parker Melting (Mint Hill, NC 2018) in 4th position, Madison Isaacson (Greensboro, NC 2018) in 6th position, Sophie Holland (Cornelius, NC 2020) in 9th position, Rachel Kuehn (Asheville, NC 2019) in 10th position, Kendall Turner (Chesapeake, VA 2019) in 11th position, Bryson Bowman (Summerfield, NC 2017) in 12th position, Emily Dunlap (Greenville, SC 2019) in 13th position, Cassie Paulin (Winston-Salem, NC 2017) and Hailey Pendleton (Waxhaw, NC 2020) tied for 14th position, and Madison Cross (Hickory, NC 2016) in 15th position.

The PKBGT FUTURES OPEN CHAMPIONSHIP at Sapona Ridge Country Club brings together players from event brings together players from Maryland, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, and Virginia. It should be a great tournament!

The Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour is an initiative of the Triad Youth Golf Foundation, a 501(c)3 non-profit foundation aimed at increasing learning and playing opportunities for youth golfers.
