Preview: NC One-Day Series Event at Bermuda Run West

On Friday, July 29, the 2016 Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour plays the One-Day Open Series at Bermuda Run Country Club (West Course). One-day tournaments are designed for golfers of all skill levels, but are a great place for development golfers to “get in to the swing of things” playing tournament golf. The goal of One-Day Open Series events is to provide a fun and friendly tournament on a premium golf course. The event features a field of 27 players from the PKB Girls’ Golf Tour, the nation’s largest “girls’ only” junior tour.

The Prep Series field features Julianne Strauch (Advance, NC 2017) and Emilee Wenmoth (Clemmons, NC 2017). Strauch is 88th on the 2016 PKBGT Performance Index and was the champion at the Boar’s Head Inn Classic event this season. Wenmoth is 59th on the PKBGT Prep Order of Merit and has had two top-20 finishes this season.

Featured in Futures Series field is Layla Meric (Wesley Chapel, NC 2021), Kelley Topiwala (Mathews, NC 2020), and Amanda Kang (Kernersville, NC 2018). Meric is the Futures One-Day Order of Merit leader and has also recorded four Top-5 finishes this season. Topiwala is coming in this event with a runner-up finish at the  PRECISION JR GIRLS’ CHAMPIONSHIPS and a Top-10 finish at the FUTURES OPEN this season. Kang is coming off a great month of tournaments with a win and runner-up finish in her last two PKBGT events and a Top-10 finish at the PRECISION JR GIRLS’ CHAMPIONSHIPS .

The One-Day Open Series at Bermuda Run Country Club (West Course) brings together players from North Carolina and Virginia. It should be a great event!

The Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour is an initiative of the Triad Youth Golf Foundation, a 501(c)3 non-profit foundation aimed at increasing learning and playing opportunities for youth golfers.
